The Pearl River Public Library is dedicated to meeting the information needs of the entire community, regardless of age, origin or beliefs, through its collection of materials.

The Library has photographs and ephemera dating from 1872 to present that are significant to the history of the establishment and development of the hamlet of Pearl River. Subjects of interest include the history of the Library, the Dexter Folder Company, Julius Braunsdorf, Lederle Laboratories, local cemeteries, fire departments, civic organizations and the Pearl River Schools. Many of our materials, such as the Mary Merli Schiavi and George Springsteen Collections, have been generously donated to the Library by individuals in the community.

The Palisades Free Library enjoys a unique relationship with the hamlet of Palisades as a vibrant cultural landmark. The library’s mission is to promote, support and sustain this relationship through its work as a public resource for education, information, and enlightenment. It will continue to promote intellectual freedom and public discourse, as it adapts to the changing cultural and intellectual needs of its citizens. The Palisades Free Library endeavors to fulfill its mission through responsible governance, ensuring a consistent and durable future for itself and for the residents of Palisades.

From the very beginning in 1891, the Palisades Library has collected materials on the history of Palisades. Some highlights are photographs, maps, the Gesner Diary (1829 - 1850), and the 10964 newsletter (1977 - present).

The New City Library connects people, information and ideas to promote lifelong learning, literacy development and community involvement to improve the quality of life for its patrons.

The Rockland Room, New City's local history room, has the largest collection of printed histories of Rockland County and its communities. Spanning from the far past to current day, the works cover everything from maps to family histories.

The Nanuet Public Library is dedicated to being a civic resource promoting open access to information, materials and services to all residents of the Nanuet School District to advance knowledge, foster creativity, encourage the exchange of ideas, build community, and enhance the quality of life.

The Haverstraw King's Daughters Public Library provides the community with educational, cultural, recreational, and entertainment offerings through its collection of materials, programs, and other resources that it makes available.

The Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library’s Local History Collection is housed in the Thomas F.X. Casey Local History Room. In this room books, newspapers, photographs, and other materials relating to all eras of the history of the town of Haverstraw and the villages of Haverstraw, West Haverstraw, and Garnerville are collected, preserved, and made accessible to the public.

The Library Association of Rockland County (LARC) is an organization of library-oriented individuals and groups representing 17 public libraries of Rockland County, New York. Its mission is to promote library growth, cooperation and development in Rockland County. Members of LARC include library staff members from libraries, as well as trustees, friends of libraries, and other interested persons and organizations.

Rockland County is located north of the New Jersey-New York border, west of the Hudson River and south of Orange County. It is a county rich in history beginning with the settlement of the Munsees or Lenni Lenape Indians. In 1609, Henry Hudson sailed the great river later named in his honor and anchored near the area that is now Haverstraw. The region was settled primarily by the Dutch and many county place names reveal their Dutch origin.

The county has continued to contribute to the social, cultural and business history of the region including the American Revolution battle at Stony Point, the brick making industry at Haverstraw, the 20th century training sites for American infantry during World Wars I and II and the expansion of transportation with the building of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

The Levittown Public Library was established in 1950. In 1963, it moved from rented stores on the South Village Green, to its present location. In 1968, it became the Central Reference Library for the Nassau Library System. The library is chartered to provide service to residents of the Levittown Union Free School District. The Levittown School District covers 5.9 square miles and includes most of Levittown and parts of Seaford and Wantagh.

The Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society (the Society) is a membership organization created in 1948 for the purpose of documenting and preserving the history of the Village of Lake Placid and the Town of North Elba in New York State. In 1967, Francis and Louise Brewster, two patrons of the Society purchased the Train Station from the Penn Central Railroad Corporation, which had ceased both passenger and freight operations into Lake Placid. The Station was given to the Society to provide a permanent home for the organization as well as to create a museum. The Society is a 501(c)(3) organization and is chartered by the New York State Board of Regents.

The mission of the Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society is to preserve and present the community’s history in ways that are educational and enriching for residents and visitors.

1883, some of the people of Lake Placid felt the need for a library. A public notice was put up, and the meeting was scheduled to be held in the Adirondack Baptist Church on January 15, 1884.
On the appointed day eighteen people "interested in the literary advancement of our community" formed the Library Association of North Elba. A Certificate of Incorporation was filed in the office of the Essex County Clerk, Mr. Roberts, who donated the cost of the filing, on February 19, 1884.
Building plans began immediately. Two hundred books had already been donated for the shelves, as well as several newspaper and magazine subscriptions. A plot between Mirror Lake and Main Street was chosen. It has been the site of the library ever since.
The plot belonged to the Adirondack Baptist Church. The Library Association was to pay a token rent of $1.00 to the Church on January 1st of east year; on the same day the church donated $1.00 to the Library Association. Thus the property cost the library nothing; only the annual exchange of receipts was involved. The lease was to run for fifty years and was renewable for another fifty. Byron E. McLeod donated his time to survey the plot and James L. Breeze of New York City drew up plans and specifications for free. R.W. Clifford was chosen to build the library for $1200.
The community generously donated time, raw materials and cash. The dream of a few people had become that of the whole community. The Lake Placid Public Library opened its doors in July 1886. Lydia Wood was elected the first Librarian and began to collect her salary of $1.00 a week.

The Lake Placid Olympic Museum, located in the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York is open year round for visitors to explore the history and heritage of winter sports in Lake Placid – the first winter resort in the United States – through artifacts, photographs, and videos.
The museum holds an extensive collection of Olympic materials. Resources include both final reports and result books from Summer and Winter Olympiads along with several Olympic winter sports reference books. Collections also include photographs from the III Olympic Winter Games in 1932 and the 1980 Olympic Winter Games. The archives room houses 750 linear feet of materials from the President of the III Olympic Winter Games Committee, Godfrey Dewey along with the documents from the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Organizing Committee.
