Scope of Collection

This collection contains world tour albums of the Coe family’s travels to Europe during 1923–1927. These hard bound volumes contain rare images believed to be photographed directly by the three Coe sons: William, Robert, and Henry. They cover a range of countries including Italy, Egypt, India, and China and offer a glimpse into what the tourist experience was like during this period. It also includes a range of digitized stereo slides of the Coe’s travels both domestically and abroad during the early 20th century.

Digitization of both the albums and stereo slides was made possible by a digitization grant from the Long Island Library Resource Council with additional scans done by Planting Fields Foundation.
