This collection consists of 16mm home movies of the Melville family that range from 1927 to 1946 and additional 16mm films from 1950 to 1955 that include the construction of a school in Stony Brook and the Setauket-Brookhaven Tercentenary Celebration from 1955. There is also an 8mm film circa 1946 of the parade and celebration of the completion of Stony Brook Village.
This collection also contains videotapes that capture events and celebrations around the Three Village area from 1985 to 2005.
These films and videos were digitized and uploaded to New York Heritage through the Three Village Historical Society partnerships with LILRC’s Accessing Archives Program in 2022 and 2025.
