Albion W. Tourgee (1838 - 1905) was a Civil War veteran, politician, and lawyer. He played a pivotal role in the Plessy v. Ferguson case and was a pioneering civil rights activist. This collection includes his correspondence, as well as legal documents, articles, and photographs.

Materials relating to NYS Assemblyman George M. Michaels, who represented Cayuga County. He's best known for his pivotal vote for the passage of abortion rights in New York State.

Utica resident Kathleen Oser was involved in many civil rights and women’s rights movements, especially the National Organization for Women (NOW.) The collection contains materials relating to Osner’s involvement in NOW.
