Historical Context

These video tape recordings are sourced from one of the first video tape formats that were made available to the American consumer, half inch open reel video tapes. This tape format along with the camera and equipment needed were expensive and were only within financial reach for a library, school, news station or wealthy individual.

Scope of Collection

This collection contains video tapes of Oceanside that capture events around town, businesses, and oral histories of long-time residents. Some of which were captured by the library staff. The dates range from 1975 to 1979 with a focus on the Bicentennial.
